8RF / Infinite Reasoning Fabric

Carry understanding
forward.

Our vision for reasoning that keeps its purpose, evidence and unfinished work as people and AI move between tasks.

8RF is a core service in the 8OS vision. Native applications can draw on connected understanding, bring the relevant context into focus and return results that others can inspect.

The problem / Rebuilding context at every boundary

A new task shouldn’t mean
starting your understanding again.

A conversation ends. A different agent takes over. A new document or code change arrives. Important reasoning gets scattered across prompts, files and people. We’re building 8RF to keep that work connected and give the next contribution a useful starting point.

Focus the working context.

Bring the information the task needs into view, with a route to expand into exact sources. The goal is less repeated retrieval and explanation while preserving the requirements that matter.

Keep the wider purpose.

Connect a local decision to project goals, customer constraints and existing evidence. Contributors can inspect the detail without losing the reason for the work.

Preserve what was learned.

Retain useful conclusions and their support alongside alternatives and unresolved questions. Give the next task something more useful than an unstructured transcript.

A continuous reasoning cycle

From a focused question
to lasting understanding.

Focus

Start with the goal, constraints and decision in front of you. Select the relevant context without losing the critical requirements.

Connect

Follow relationships between observations, sources, people, decisions and the work they concern. Keep the reason for each connection visible.

Explore

Consider alternatives and rival explanations. Expand into deeper context when the next question needs it.

Check

Connect conclusions to supporting evidence, uncertainty and relevant tests. Review the result at the level the decision requires.

Retain

Preserve useful understanding, provenance and unresolved questions. Keep observations and accepted decisions distinguishable.

Continue

Resume from the current state of the work. Revisit conclusions when their sources, assumptions or permissions change.

Available through the operating environment

One reasoning service.
Many useful ways in.

A document needs evidence. A project needs a decision. A software change needs its requirements and consequences. Each application supplies the meaning of its work; 8RF connects the reasoning around it.

Follow one software decision.

A discussion reveals a customer constraint. Projects connects it to an objective. Documents captures the requirement. CodeGraph follows the requirement into the relevant interfaces, code and checks.

In the 8OS vision, 8RF helps an authorized contributor investigate that decision and retain its reasoning. The resulting proposal still needs acceptance by someone with that authority.

Connected intelligence / Explicit boundaries

Useful context.
Deliberate control.

The design separates access to information, the right to send it to a model provider, and authority to act on a result. Source permissions, provenance and change history are part of the reasoning context.

“Infinite” expresses continuity and an expanding connected fabric. Each task still works with bounded context, resources and authority. The objective is useful understanding that accumulates across work.

Research and evaluation

8RF and its 8OS integration are in development. The next useful proof is a representative workflow: preserve the goal and evidence across handoffs, produce a checkable result, and measure the complete cost of getting there.

Compare total tokens, time to useful context, corrections and accepted outcomes, including the effort to maintain the connected model.
