8DB example / Preserve what the instrument actually reported
The time-series carrier represents point measurements, enclosures, below-detection bounds and typed absence. A scan combines those observations with the catalogue’s cadence and deployment windows. Late observations are admitted against transaction versions, so the version being queried matters.
There is no invented value at tick 2. The reading at tick 1 remains a bound, not a measured 5.
Illustrative values on a declared four-tick cadence and deployment window. This explains documented carrier semantics; it is not a sensor dataset or runtime replay. This control runs in the browser, not against 8DB.
Download the example and evaluation checklist ↓Downstream analysis can distinguish a low reading from an unknown one. Preserving that difference helps a reviewer understand what an alert rests on, and what still needs measurement.
The 14 September status ledger records the carrier and algebra merged, persistence/reopen gates passed, and routes reached on an internal deployment. The documented interfaces include catalogue, write, scan, rollup, braid and multiscale layer operations. A molecular-dynamics consumer stores and reloads frames; its recorded checks compare the resulting reduction with direct frames and refuse a missing frame.
Internal route probes establish reachability, not complete customer deployment. Sensor adapters, platform support and the combined inspection workflow remain separate. The reviewed carrier documents also retain limits around outage classification, retention-expired state and delta compaction.

01 / From input to value
One question spans several representations. Each contributes a different part of the answer.
Preserve timestamps, late arrivals and gaps. A missing observation must not silently become a normal reading.
Explore time series →Relate the observation to the relevant place or asset footprint, with explicit coordinate and distance semantics.
Explore spatial →Keep supported bounds or other uncertainty representations visible. State the assumptions used when combining measurements.
Explore values →Follow asset relationships and assemble candidates for inspection with the observations that support the result.
Explore graphs →Conceptual composition. Individual modality guides describe their operations and evidence; combining the models here is not a claim that this complete application is already qualified.
02 / Why bring these together?
A fast reading lookup is only one part of the decision. The 8DB evaluation connects the signal to its context and useful output, so missing data, uncertainty and the work needed to combine models remain visible.
03 / Compare the complete job
Evaluate 8DB when time, missingness, uncertainty and related asset data all affect the decision. A specialist time-series or spatial system may be a better fit when established ingestion tools or domain operations dominate the requirement.
Late and out-of-order observations are established time-series concerns. Match ingestion, freshness and query conditions when evaluating the time-series stage.
Read the vendor documentation ↗A mature spatial alternative with a broad operation set. Compare required predicates, coordinate systems and integration with time and uncertainty.
Read the vendor documentation ↗An integrated alternative may cover several stages. Do not assume a separate database is required for every model, or count an architecture diagram as proof of savings.
04 / Prove the useful result
This is a decision-support example, not an autonomous safety system. SensorThings, coordinate-system and uncertainty interoperability require verified mappings; citing a standard does not establish conformance.
Compare identical output quality, freshness, durability and protection. Include parsing, derived representations, persistence, authorization, network setup and result delivery where the application needs them. Report database-stage and complete-job measurements separately.
Bring a short sample with a normal reading, a detection limit, a gap and a late correction, plus the decision your application must make.
