573 Files, Ten Refuted Claims, Three Engine Repairs: What an Archive Review Returns

Five months of Navier-Stokes work leaves a lot of documents, and documents are where attractive ideas quietly become premises. We read every accessible file on the subject, 573 of them, and asked one question of each claim: does it survive an exact counterexample? Ten did not. The review also found three real defects in the database itself, fixed them with regression controls, and recovered a formal contribution that older summaries had been calling missing. The ideas survived; the invalid inferences stopped supporting conclusions.

An archive is not a record until someone reads it against itself. Between April and September 2026 our Navier-Stokes programme produced hundreds of documents: gap analyses, simulation scripts, syntheses, handoffs, friction logs, licensing inventories. Attractive ideas travel well through a corpus like that, and so do their unexamined premises. On 11 September we read all of it, with the database as the reading instrument, and asked each mathematical claim to survive an exact counterexample. This is what came back.

What was read

The inventory covers 573 distinct accessible Drive files, 407 distinct payloads, and about 24.9 million bytes of source or extracted text. Three folders were enumerated directly and fully read: the primary Navier-Stokes scope, the historical descendant with 147 PDF pages and 29 Python scripts, and the certified-numerics scope. Broader company and architecture documents were read for their Navier-Stokes sections. Forty-five friction-log files turned out to be nine identical copies of each of five payloads, which is provenance, not forty-five confirmations. One Google Doc embedded sixty equations as images that vanish from text extraction; all twelve exported pages were inspected visually so that no conclusion rests on declaring a formula missing.1

Every payload's reading scope is recorded in the source manifest as fully read, sections read, or merely retrieved. Retrieval never counts as review, and review never counts as validation.

Ten claims that did not survive

Each row is an archived statement, the exact reason it fails, and what remains worth keeping. The originals are preserved in the research graph with their status changed, not deleted.

Two further findings sharpen the picture. An archived reinterpretation of an old embedding margin of 2.33 as an exponential decay, promoted to a regularity proof, was invented; and an asserted equivalence between blow-up and a nonzero vorticity de Rham class is unsupported. Neither supplies evidence. Filament geometry and topology remain possible diagnostics under correctly stated maps and norms.2

Three defects in the instrument, and their repairs

Reading the archive against the running code found three places where the database itself could mislead, each now repaired with the failing case kept as a regression control.

A finite diagnostic promoted to a global verdict. A single closed thermodynamic plaquette with zero circulation had been treated as a global-potential result. An exact counterexample has zero circulation around the loop and a nonzero interior Maxwell defect. The repaired adapter reports the limited finite diagnostic and leaves the global question open, with seven controls covering the distinction.

Approximate arithmetic that could pass for rigorous. Affine arithmetic over binary64 floats is approximate and can lose rounding error. The engine also has an interval-backed affine path that is rigorous. The repair makes the rigorous path reachable through a checked lift of exact input coefficients before any arithmetic, preserving shared noise symbols, and it refuses to pretend that lifting an already rounded result recovers the error that was lost. The repair qualification ran 121 unit tests and the production command line.3

A clone that silently dropped structure. Cloning a generic sheaf stalk discarded its registered restriction maps, even when the clone was triggered by an identity restriction. An architecture amendment had warned about this months earlier; source inspection confirmed the defect was still live. Two regression controls failed before the repair and all thirteen module tests pass after it, with the clone contract now documented for external implementors.4

The review caught itself too

A new preflight formula for a periodic primitive omitted the division by three when integrating a third harmonic. The independent exact checker caught it before qualification. The failed preflight is retained as a superseded record, and exact differentiation controls now reject a missing one-third or one-fifth divisor. A metadata error about where one candidate's peak occurs was caught and rerun the same way. Neither touched the frozen earlier certificates. A review that finds errors in the archive and none in itself has not looked hard enough.

A contribution the archive had forgotten it owned

Several older frontier and handoff documents listed a Lean lemma about the decay conditions in the formal Navier-Stokes statement as missing. It was not missing. A 22-theorem Lean file proving the finite-dimensional decay-norm equivalences existed in the archive, and the review compiled the unchanged source under the released Lean 4.34 environment with a documented reduced import adapter; all 22 target-specific axiom audits list exactly the three standard axioms, and an imported open placeholder correctly reports its placeholder axiom as a negative control. The file belongs to the earlier team work and is credited to it. Knowing when a later artefact has already closed an open gap is one of the quieter jobs of research memory.5

Why read the archive with a database

Because the alternative is to read it with a person, once, and lose the result. Here every source snapshot is an immutable atom, every refuted claim carries its counterexample as a typed relation, every retained hypothesis carries the transfer obligation it still owes, and every plan that came out of the review is bound to the sources that motivated it. The store that holds the loop experiments now also holds 582 source snapshots, the curated claims, and the plans, and it replays read-only with its controls.6 A motivation edge never discharges a theorem premise, and that single rule is what keeps an idea bank from becoming a proof by accumulation.

What to bring us

The review covers the accessible files found through the recorded searches and folders, not a guarantee that every file anywhere was discoverable. The sources remain inspiration where their actual hypotheses survive into the graph.

  3. The bounded repair qualification also reported no introduced critical or high findings in the scoped code-pattern scan. The generic sheaf query underlying the thermodynamic adapter was not shown defective by the plaquette example.

  4. External implementors of restriction maps must now supply Clone or the documented manual clone operation. This generic defect is separate from the Navier-Stokes-specific sheaf carrier used in the earlier frozen gluing experiment, which was independently implemented.

  5. The replay used a reduced import adapter to accommodate older utility dependencies and did not rebuild the complete original Lean 4.33 package. The result concerns finite-dimensional operator-norm versus basis-evaluation decay bounds; it does not settle every reading of classical mixed partials or half-space smoothness, and it is kernel-checked against the pinned statement, not verified in any broader sense.

  6. The store holds 582 source snapshots (573 Drive identities and nine local reports, 416 unique payloads), a curated review of 92 atoms and 194 hyperedges plus an addendum of 34 atoms and 70 hyperedges, and seven original plan identities of which two have measured completions. The read-only replay completed in 28.18 seconds. Persistence and relationship integrity are what the controls establish; they do not establish the mathematical truth of any imported sentence.

One Loop Inside the Navier-Stokes Blow-Up Proof, Made Measurably Better Twice

The forced Navier-Stokes breakdown proof runs on oscillatory loops with a safety margin. We took one of those loops at its reference profile, found a shape with a margin about twenty percent wider than the best any single sine wave can achieve, then let the research graph choose the next experiment and found a second shape that lowers four of the construction's own cost bounds at the same margin. Every bound is a certified interval, every candidate that lost is kept, and the database did the bookkeeping.
